About Us
Salsa Business Network was founded on November 2, 2006 and had its first luncheon meeting in January, 2007. It was spearheaded by a few Latino family members and friends who were constantly asked, "How can we reach the Latino market?"
We decided to offer a fun and energized monthly luncheon to help get people out of their comfort zones and come together. We chose "Salsa" as the network's name because everyone can relate to the music, dance and food called salsa.
Salsa Business Network provides a perfect opportunity for people from all cultural and racial backgrounds to build professional relationships with the leaders, business owners and professionals in our diverse community.
Membership is for all who attend at least three luncheons annually or who make a contribution of $25.00 (or more) per year.
Everyone can expect a fun and "fiesta" atmosphere at each gathering. Time is given for an "elevator pitch of 15-30 seconds to share information about their business, profession, project and/or upcoming events. When their time is up, the "Maraca Man" will let them know!
Members and visitors can bring business cards to exchange and literature to distribute. Qualified members will be added to the membership list on this website from the current information on the business cards.
A member of the Rockford and Belvidere Chambers of Commerce, Salsa has been part of the Salvation Army's Paint-a-thon, collected mounds of toys for children and participated in youth leadership conferences, partnered with United at Peace youth programs, provided business workshops and training seminars in association with the City of Rockford and State of Illinois government agencies.
Lunch is $14 and payable at the door. Reservations are required. Please understand that once we respond and confirm your reservation, we ask that you honor it by attending. If you don't show up, Salsa will be charged for your meal anyway (we're a humble group with a small bank account.)
Join us, and muchas gracias again for visiting our website!!
